“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better.”

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is…

  • Evidence-based and Effective

CBT is the most well-established psychotherapy for a wide range of psychological disorders. In general, it is just as effective, if not more so, than medication for mild to moderate mental health concerns.

CBT may be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other treatments (e.g., psychiatric medication).

  • Active and Collaborative

In our relationship, you are the expert on yourself and I am the expert on CBT. Therefore, establishing an open, honest, and trusting partnership is key. I encourage my patients to be assertive and ask questions in session.

As success in CBT depends on learning new, more adaptive ways of coping, practicing skills (in and outside of session) is important. The more you put into treatment, the more you will get out of it. We will work together to determine how best to incorporate CBT skills practice into your daily life.

  • PRESENT-FOCUSED, GOAL-ORIENTED, & Time-limited

CBT focuses on your thoughts, behaviors, and feelings as well as the interconnections among these experiences. We will discuss patterns that are working well for you and those that are not. We will then discuss and practice skills to help you learn more effective ways of coping so you can make progress toward your goals.

A typical course of CBT is four to six months. My overarching goal is to empower you to effectively and independently manage your mental health symptoms.
